 | Thermostats
 | You can get one at Home Depot for about $30. If you wire it
wrong, you can damage the thermostat and/or your equipment. |
 | The most common thermostat we install is $125 plus labor. |
 | They can cost as much as $450 for top of the line programming
features. |
|
 | Indoor blower motor
 | The most common indoor motor call costs $170 for the motor and
related parts plus labor. |
|
 | Outdoor motor
 | Our most frequent summer repair is replacing the outdoor fan motor
on a rooftop air conditioner.
The motor is $156. There is a part called a capacitor, $4, that is always
replaced with it. Tax is $14. Add the $80 labor and the total is $254. |
|
 | Compressors
 | Estimate $1,000 minimum for parts and labor. There is a lot
involved changing out a compressor. |
|
 | “Freon”
 | About $15 per pound but if it leaks more than the EPA allows,
the leak must be fixed and labor becomes more substantial. |
 | Legally, the days of "It just needs a little freon"
are over. There are serious penalties for allowing freon to leak
into the atmosphere. |
|
 | Gas Valve
 | The valve itself is approximately $200 plus labor. |
|
 | Heating ignition
 | In winter, gas
ignition modules are a fairly common trouble spot. Our favorite replacement is a
Honeywell that lists for $232, and of course labor brings it to
around $300. |
|
 | Relays / Contactors
 | These are only $30 or $40. With labor and tax, your total bill
would be about $125. |
|
 | Circuit boards
 | The price for these is all over the board (no pun intended). We
have some listed as high as $750 and as low as $31. |
 | Most commonly they run about $125. |
